  • Functional Lines (FL)

Together with the Spiral Lines (SL), the helical Functional Lines (FL) is related to the movement around the sagittal axis i.e., rotation of the spine.   Each Functional line has 2 cross-overs (1) over the cranial lumbar vertebrae through the Thoracolumbar fascia; (2) over the pubic bone through the Gracilis m. and fascia.

  • The Right & Left Bilaterally Symmetrical Functional Lines:
    • start with the Latissimus dorsi m. and continue into the Thoracolumbar fascia
    • cross over the Lumbar vertebrae & continue into the Gluteal fascia ...
    • to the Superficial gluteal m. & Tensor fascial lata to the lateral collateral ligament of the Stifle.
    • From here they cross over to the other side just distal to the Stifle joint on the dorsal surface into the medial collateral ligament and crural fascia,
    • proceeding proximal to the Adductor and Gracilis mm.
    • From the Gracilis m., they cross over the Pubic bone at an aponeurosis, along the Rectus abdominalis m.,
    • and END in the deep pectoral (Pectoral profundus m.) at the same side from which it started.
